Style that defies convention

The new Toyota C-HR breaks all the rules. Impossible to ignore, it combines the style of a coupe with a powerful stance.

Design
  1. Aerodynamics
    1. Sculpted by the wind
A highly sophisticated aerodynamic form, the new Toyota C-HR has the streamlined profile of a coupe. This benefits every aspect of the driving experience, from agility to stability, while also making it quiet and efficient.
    2. Concept car for the road

Free-thinking and innovative, with precise lines and a dynamic profile, it is a concept car made real.

    4. Every detail matters

Flush door handles – featured on a Toyota for the first time – is the key to the clean, sculptural style and high-performance aerodynamics.

Sustainability

An environmental pioneer

The new Toyota C-HR has a focus on sustainability, with increased use of recycled and vegan materials as well as a reduction in carbon emissions through weight-saving and new production processes.

A second-life philosophy
  1. Sustainability at its core

      Sustainability at its core
Recycled materials and design that encourages future recycling are both core Toyota concepts, reducing consumption and waste. Elements of the new Toyota C-HR are created using more than 80% recycled materials.
    2. Second-use plastics
The new Toyota C-HR makes extensive use of recycled plastics. Used for seat fabric, floor mats, luggage boxes and more, it uses twice as much recycled plastic as the outgoing model.
    3. Close-up image of the steering-wheel highlighting the animal-free materials present in the steering-wheel cover.
      Animal-free materials
The new Toyota C-HR introduces the use of a new vegan material as an alternative to leather for the steering wheel cover and elements of the seats.
  2. Simplified manufacturing
    1. Location image
      Ultra-high strength steel
The bodyshell takes advantage of ultra-high strength steel in key areas, increasing impact protection and durability. This steel also makes the new Toyota C-HR lighter, improving energy efficiency and sustainability.
    2. Exterior view of the panoramic roof
      Lightweight engineering
Weight has been reduced through innovative design, including the use of high-strength steel. The new panoramic roof is also lighter than before. It features advanced coatings that retain warmth in winter and prevent overheating in summer. *Panoramic Roof is Grade Dependent.
    3. Stylised European map showing where the Toyota C-HR is provued in Europe.
      Made in Europe
The new Toyota C-HR is produced by Toyota's advanced European plants. Just as the car has been engineered with the environment in mind, so the supply chain has been designed to minimise transport.
    4. Close-up image of the exterior of the vehicle focusing on the paint finish.
      A bright future
Finished in water-based paints to lessen its environmental burden, the new Toyota C-HR also takes advantage of moulded-in colour technology. This technique delivers a luxurious high-gloss finish without the need for paint.

Frequently asked questions

Electrified power: your questions answered

Toyota started the hybrid revolution more than 25 years ago and continues to drive for a world with lower emissions. Hybrids combine electric drive with powerful petrol engines for effortless performance and convenience.

Switching seamlessly between a combustion engine and efficient EV drive, Hybrid vehicles incorporate two energy sources: a petrol engine and an electric motor.

Hybrids can use electric power to pull away and even cruise at speeds up to 50km/h. When the battery runs low, excess power from the engine charges it back up again.

Hybrids feature pioneering battery technology. They are known as ‘Hybrid-electric’ vehicles because they have two energy sources. This means that unlike pure electric vehicles and Plug-in Hybrids you don’t have to plug them in to recharge their batteries.

The pioneering battery technology in a Toyota Hybrid is engineered to last for the entire lifetime of the car. In fact, some mechanical elements such as the clutch, alternator and starter motor are removed completely, further reducing the risk of unforeseen costs in the future. Not only that, all Hybrid components, including the Hybrid battery, come with Toyota’s 5-year/100,000km* warranty from new. *Whichever is soonest.

There are three types of Hybrid electric vehicle: mild Hybrid cars, full Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrids. Mild Hybrid cars only use their electric motors to support the engine during acceleration and cruising as the electric motor cannot power the car on its own. In a full or self-charging Toyota Hybrid, you can enjoy pure electric power for up to 80% of your city journeys, with cruising speeds of up to 50km/h. Plug-in Hybrids work in the same way as a Hybrid but with a higher capacity battery for greater electric performance.

Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid vehicles incorporate very similar technology – but with a key difference. Both switch seamlessly between two power sources, an efficient petrol engine and a self-charging Hybrid battery, however Plug-in Hybrid vehicles feature a higher capacity battery to deliver greater electric performance

The new Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid can travel exclusively in electric mode for up to 66km* – emission free. If travelling for longer distances and its battery runs out of charge, your vehicle seamlessly switches back to operating as a Hybrid car, combining petrol and regenerated battery power to get you safely to your destination.

*WLTP data

Plug-in Hybrids can save drivers money in many ways. With a fully charged battery, a Plug-in Hybrid can travel up to 100 km on as little as 1 litre of fuel. Low CO2 emissions in Plug-in Hybrids often result in road and company car tax discounts, as well as exemption from city centre charges. And due to less wear to parts like brake pads and discs, they can be cheaper to maintain too.

Toyota Plug-in Hybrid batteries are engineered to last for the lifetime of the car. For added peace of mind, every battery comes with a five-year/100,000 km* warranty which – with an annual Hybrid Health Check – extends battery cover for up to 10 years. When a battery reaches the end of its life, Toyota’s take-back scheme ensures it is dealt with safely and responsibly.
